In the past decade, Vaastu Shastra has gained so much popularity that this “science of construction”which was applied to Hindu temples alone, is now being used in the construction of anything. This along with Feng Shui has become a rage of sorts and the concept of direction has been emphasized.
Keeping all that Hinduism has in its scriptures, this science has been resurrected and follows directional alignments. In accordance with the position occupied by the gods in the “mandala” or orbit, guidelines are given for zoning of site and distribution of rooms in a building. Some examples include, North — treasury, Northeast – prayer room, Fast— bathroom, Southeast —kitchen, South — bedroom, Southwest – armoury, West – dining room and Northwest cowshed. While houses and buildings that are constructed today strictly adhere to Vaastu Shastra, there are solutions to create remedies for houses that have been long standing but made without any consultation of this science.
People believe that if money is kept in the wrong direction then prosperity will not come to their house, similarly each health defect or problem is indicative of a wrong direction and has remedies. While there is some logic to the whole science, blind faith has never helped. So whether you are changing your bedroom direction or hanging a wind chime, do not go overboard.
