When You Can’t Fall Asleep
Have you ever twisted and turned on your bed trying to fall asleep? What do you do when you have finished counting all the sheep and sleep still eludes you? Let me share my secret recipe for falling asleep. Close your eyes and think of a place or a person you would like to be.
One night I imagined I was a famous painter. I saw myself standing in front of a big easel with a palette full of colours. Soon, I was painting a landscape of a beautiful countryside. I painted lush green meadows sprinkled with wild yellow and white flowers and an azure blue sky above it. My fingers deftly moved over shades of blue and green to paint the river flowing through. I painted a couple of horses galloping through the grass with the wind blowing through their manes. I looked at my painting and imagined myself to be apart of it. What would I do ifl was in the middle of such a picturesque place, I thought!
I painted myself lying below an old willow tree, at the corner of the painting, with a book in my hands. Sure enough, I started imagining that I was reading the book. And do you know what happened next? As soon as I turned the pages of my book, my eyes started drooping anti I soon drifted off to sleep!
