I tossed and turned uncomfortably in bed. Maria patted my arm tenderly. She pulled the blanket up to my chin. I was not feeling well. Maria, our maid, had been taking care of me the whole night
Maria stayed by my side the next morning too. She kept rubbing her eyes. She was very tired but she continued taking care of me. As my medicine was very bitter, I refused to take it. However, Maria promised to give me a sweet if I took it. She was very patient with me. She spoke gently to me. She did not lose her temper even when I was so irritated that I kicked the bottle of medicine away. To keep my fever down, she sponged my forehead with a cold towel. She also rubbed my limbs with cold towels. She sang me songs to help me to sleep at night. She also read me my favourite stories. When I was feeling better, Maria beamed with joy. She hurriedly made me a bowl of my favourite porridge. It was very tasty. I finished the bowl within minutes and asked her for more.
I was grateful to Maria for taking care of me. My parents were very pleased with what she had done too.
