A Remedial Lesson

The examinations were around the corner. Mrs. Rivers was holding extra classes for her weaker students. They needed extra help in their work.

After lunch, she took ten of her students to an empty classroom. She went through the day’s work with them again. Then, she let them do their homework in class. She was about to give them more work when she noticed that one of them looked very pale. Mrs. Rivers gave worksheets to the others in the class and went over to the boy at the back. He looked sick. He told Mrs. Rivers that he had not eaten anything for lunch. He had been playing in the field. Mrs. Rivers wanted to punish him for not eating lunch. However, she felt sorry for him. She gave him permission to buy a packet of biscuits from the canteen. The boy was grateful to Mrs. Rivers. He dashed to the canteen and was back in a flash with a packet of biscuits. He munched happily on the biscuits while he did his work.

When the remedial lesson was over, Mrs. Rivers reminded her students when the next lesson was. She also told them sternly that they had to eat their lunch before the lesson.
