A Bookworm

Crash! “Watch where you are going!” shouted the boy as Melissa stumbled over him with a book in her hand. “Can’t you stop reading when you’re walking?” he yelled.

Melissa smiled apologetically and hurried off.

Melissa had taken only a few steps when she bumped into a teacher. A whole stack of exercise books dropped on the floor. Melissa was startled and she immediately apologized. Then, she helped the teacher to pick up the books. The teacher knew that nothing could stop Melissa from reading. She smiled at her and told her that she should not read when she was walking. Melissa nodded and hurried off. She decided to put down her book as she was afraid of bumping into more people. However, as soon as she reached her classroom, she opened her book again. When she finished, she reached into her bag for another book. She was so engrossed in her book that she did not even see her teacher enter the classroom. Everyone greeted him except Melissa.

Melissa was well-known for being a bookworm. She always had a book with her wherever she went. Her head was often buried in a book. She did not mind being called a bookworm as she loved to read.
