Sir,
The programmes telecast by the Jalandhar Doordarshan are on the whole commendable. But the regional movies shown on Sundays are of poor quality. These movies reflect poor taste. There are Panjabi movies based on patriotic themes. They are shown very rarely.
Panjabi has rich cultural literature. There are hundreds of songs which deal with the cultural and patriotic themes. I would request you to telecast only such songs. Some of the advertisements are very obscene and senseless. They should immediately be stopped. Panjabi character, Panjabi life-style and Panjabi folk-lore should be highlighted.
Again many programmes on the heroes of Punjab can be telecast. There are programmes for children, which are ill-prepared. Only educative and informative programmes should be telecast.
