Who manufactured the first motor boat? Who built petrol-driven motor boat?

The first MOTOR BOAT IN SERIES PRODUCTION.

The first MOTOR BOAT IN SERIES PRODUCTION was a 20 ft naphtha expansion-engined launch designed by F.W. Ofeldt in 1885 and manufactured by the Gas Engine & Power Co. of New York.

In Britain Naphtha launches built by the Gas Engine & Poser Co. of New York were imported by Rowland Wood, a prominent zoologist, from 1888.

The first PETROL-DRIVEN MOTOR BOAT was built by Gottlieb Daimler (see also Motor Car; Motor Cycle) at Cannstatt, Germany and launched on the River Neckar in August 1886. Since petrol engines at this date were thought likely to explode, Daimler adopted the subterfuge of festooning that it was powered by electricity. Commercial production began at Hamburg in 1890, and Daimler launches were in use by Hamburg Harbour Police before the end of the year. Another early customer was the former Chancellor of Germany, Prince von Bismarck.
