My Neighbour

You can have a good neighbour if you are lucky. A good neighbour is a great blessing. He is not related to us but he is more than a relative to us. If we are facing any problem any time and we need immediate help we can’t get help from our relatives because they live far off. A good neighbour plays the role of our relatives and renders us all possible help till our relatives appear on the scene. But for him any mishap could happen to us.

I am lucky to have a nice neighbour. He is soft spoken, compassionate, large hearted and considerate. He is ready to go any length to help me. Whenever I need some advice and find myself in a fix, he comes to advise me and does his best to suppose a right solution to the problem. His door-bell switch is never off. Even at odd hours he does not mind if he is approached for some help or advice. In his presence I do not feel the absence of my elder brother.

He is self-sacrificing. He does not mind if he is to spend some money from his pocket to help me. If I repay, he very reluctantly says, ‘yes’ to my request. Many a time I have to say—Twill not take any help if you do not accept this amount.

His behaviour, his etiquettes and his public spirit have influenced me a lot. Grossness of selfishness that was in my character lessened to a zero size because of him. He pricked my conscience and I had to say to my heart—He is so nice, so sympathetic and so considerate, why can’t I be like him? I never found him wanting in any respect. I remember that at many occasions I cried like a child and felt nervous. He helped me to compose myself. His magic words of courage scattered the, dark clouds of depression that had engulfed me.

I always feel that he must have been my well wisher in the previous birth. He is angel who lightens the corners of my life with his radiant light. May he live long! May God give such a neighbour to one and all! Such a neighbour solidifies our belief in eternal values. He does not let others feel lonely and depressed. His very presence ennobles and purifies.
