India is said to be land of festivals as every community, religion and season has its own festival here. The Baisakhi festival is associated with the spring season.
Every year Baisakhi is celebrated on the April thirteenth. It is celebrated mainly in the States of Punjab and Haryana. This festival is celebrated mainly by farmers who start harvesting their crops and are happy to see the fruit of their labour. They celebrate this day by dancing and singing. Baisakhi fairs are held where people gather and enjoy.
The festival of Baisakhi is also considered auspicious by the Hindus in North India as traders start new financial year on this day. It was on this day that Guru Gobind Singh created the Khalsa Panth. On this day he baptized five disciples and it is thus sacred for the Sikh community.
Celebrations are held in which the Punjabi dance Bhangra is performed which is worth watching. Everybody looks happy and is dressed in his best clothes. Vendors sell all kinds of things and the sweets are in great demand. In the fair singers also sing foot tapping folk songs and numbers from latest movies to entertain people. Jugglers show and magic show are also organised. Some time even bullock cart races are held in the rural areas.
