The Caged Bird and The Bat
A singing bird was kept in a cage that hung outside a window. She used to sing at night when all other birds were asleep. One night a Bat came and went near the cage, and asked the Bird why she kept silent by day and sang only at night. ‘I do so’, said the Bird ‘because it was once when I was singing in the daytime that a lower was attracted by my sweet voice and caught me. Since then, I have never sung in the daytime’ said the Bird. ‘It is of no use doing this now when you are caught. If you had done so before, you wouldn’t have been caged, you might still have been free’, the Bat replied.
