Wild Life Week
Wild animals like the lion, tiger and elephant are becoming scare day by day. People in a wild spree of hunting have destroyed them when the wild animals were many and a danger to mankind. They had to be controlled by threatening them with destruction. But this is to be only a very limited extent.
But killing them for trophies to adorn the living room of the rich and affluent has resulted in the increase in the death rate of these animals.
The destruction of the forests has also resulted in seducing their number. If this is permitted to continue, one day none of these wild animals could be seen and they would became subjects of the past.
Hence a society for the protection of the wild animal has started to protect and preserve the wild animals and the forests where they live in. The Indian Board for wild life has started parks and sanctuaries in different parts of India for the breeding and protecting of the wild life.
The Government is also observing wild life week every year to educate the people to regard the wild animals as a national wealth.
During the wild life week lectures are delivered, broadcasts and television shows are made to bring home to the people about the importance of the wild life.
Interesting articles are published in newspapers and magazines about the habits and life of the wild animals. Pamphlets about the various wild animals and birds are also freely distributed to the public.
The Schools also have been instructed to observe the wild life week in a fitting manner. Competitions in oration and writing are held among children to induce them to learn more about the wild life in the country Prizes are distributed to the best of them.
Attractive pictures of all wild animals were exhibited in schools and other public places and sometimes in big cities where there are zoos, the wild animals in the zoo are also taken in a procession.
Thus every effort is made to impress the people about the importance of the wild life and letting them live free and fearlessly in their jungle abodes.
