The Modern Young Man
Young men are the backbone of the country. They are supposed to be the main contributors towards the progress and prosperity of a country. The older people can only provide them guidance and advice. There is a great difference between the young men of the past arid the young man of the modern age. While a young man of the past time used to follow the ideals of simple living and high thinking, the young man of present time is quite different. The western culture has influenced him to a great extent and he is more fascinated by a life of luxury and a carefree life. He has no responsibility towards the society and has no sense of discipline. He does not even respect the elders and is ever ready to criticize them and show his disrespect. The modern young man is attracted to cinemas, coffee houses, disco dances and the like. He spends lavishly on his dress. He has lost interest in higher values of life. As the young men have to shape the future destiny of the country, it is required of them to assume responsibility and discharge it appropriately. They have the capacity to take the country forward and they must realize their responsibility towards the country. The modern young man should shun himself away from the hollow and extravagant pleasures and should build up a sound character. He should pursue knowledge and become a responsible citizen. He should be such as India can be proud of him.
