The Autobiography of a Lost Puppy

Hello, my name is Bruno and I am a Dalmatian. I am only six months old and live with the Smith family. A few days back, I got lost! I was playing in the garden when suddenly, I saw the neighbour’s cat. Now, that cat is a devilish creature and is always out to annoy me. She will hiss at me and try to claw me. She tried her antics one time too many. I lost my temper and set off after her at full speed. Down the road I chased her, up the alleyway, over the bridge and into the park. Up a tree she went and I. knew it was impossible to follow her. As I decided that she was not worth my time or my temper, I started to make my way home. But where was home? In my haste, I had not realized where I was going. The park was very big and I did not know which way to go. It was getting dark and cold. I started to shiver. Would I be stuck here all my life? How would I every get home?

Suddenly, I saw a man corning towards me. He passed me and I decided to follow him. After a little while, he realized that I was ‘following him. He picked me up gently and asked if I was lost. I whined. He checked my collar for a tag but I did not have one. He then told me that he was going to take me to the local vet. Usually, I hate to go to the vet and hide under the bed if I hear my master, Tim, mention it. But this was one time when I was actually happy to see the vet’s familiar face. The vet, Dr Brown, recognized me and called up Tim, who came to pick me up. When I saw Tim, I yelped with joy and wagged my tail as hard as I could. Tim thanked the man, and we headed for home. Coming home never felt so good.

The cat eventually made her way home. But she has stopped trying to irritate me. I don’t think she liked the top of the tree very much.
