How I Prepared An Evening Meal
Some people consider cooking as a dull affair; others regard it as pleasant. Cooking may be difficult for some and easy for others. Whatever be the attitude towards cooking, the fact is that these days cooking is not such a boring business as it used to be in the past. The traditional chula has been replaced by the stove and the traditional fuel by cooking gas. One day, my mother had to go out to a hospital to visit my maternal uncle. The servant had also gone on leave on that day. I decided to prepare food on that day. One advantage with me was that, in a scouting camp of our school, I had learnt to cook. First, I prepared dal. I put dal in the boiling water and added salt and turmeric to it. I used the pressure cooker and it took hardly three minutes for dal to be ready. After it was cooked, I treated it with ghee and added a little quantity of chilly powder. Then I prepared rice in the same cooker after taking dal out of it. It was very easy to conk rice after cooking dal and rice, I starters cooking vegetable. I selected potatoes, tomatoes for cooking on the stove added salt, spices and water and left the mixture for cocking. It was ready within half an hour. All the things I prepared were delicious. On her return, I was complimented by my mother for a nice cooking.
